The lock is a mortise type and is made from a combination of brass and metal. Great brass back plate 10in by 2 3/4 skeleton key slotted vintage antique door backplate; note tiny dip in rim. It has been reclaimed from an unknown time period and is sure to be a unique and special addition to any antique hardware collection. It has double push button that prevents handle from turning. NO skeleton key to test but slides when manually advanced . door handle hole turns; does not turn knob. Very brief inspection indicates needs new spring (see picture ).
