Grosgrain ribbon is purple edged in light blue edge indicating that this was worn by a "chevalier or dame de la chaine" initial non-professional member. The behind-the-neck section of the ribbon was unstitched and removed, so the ends of ribbon are separated at back. Instead of hanging around one's neck, it was worn pinned to clothing.
