Vtg Double Indent Xmas Tree Topper Painted Handblown Mercury Glass MCM Red 9"

Description: Lovely vintage hand blown mercury glass tree topper, just over nine inches tall. Hand-decorated with red paint and white stylized flowers on the sides of the globe. Indented on both sides, highlighted with paint in three colors matching the paint detail on the ribbed portion of the spike (red, orange, and weirdly, a dark brown.) Original box is gone but a prior owner found a restaurant-size cream cheese box that is just perfect for it! I don't have enough expertise to be certain without the original box, but I would estimate that it dates to the mid-century, likely 50s, maybe 60s, and was probably made in West Germany. Condition is good overall - no chips or cracks, some paint loss, especially to the flowers on the sides. Minor silvering loss and some spotting (which I personally consider to be desirable patina, because it distinguishes it from a modern repro.)
