Description: Vintage German Lidded Beer Stein 1/2 liter capacity. Lid works well. "Morgens, mittags, abends, nachts, frink dein Bier und fonlt verachts." = "At morning, noon, evening, nightdrink your beer and maintain self-respect" The pewter lid, featuring Germanic lions and a version of the Master Brewers' Logo above images of hops and barley, says "Compliments of Charles Zoller." Charles Zoller held patents for brewery and beer making equipment starting in the late 19th century. It's a Merkelbach & Wick mold (see bottom) from an inherited collection that has been passed down through at least 4 generations of brewers. Most recently inherited from a Director of Brewing's stein collection. Probably from the late 1800s - early 1900s. In very good condition. Please check out photos.
