Description: This is a gorgeous, vintage, hand-painted large Russian "Nesting Doll" look chicken wooden canister with beautiful designs and a lovely courting scene. I was unable to find any similar items listed, so this is quite a rare find! The top of the canister is the head and neck of a chicken beautifully-painted red with blue eyes and gold and black accent designs. His beak is cone-shaped, and his mouth is an orange, wooden square. He has a plume of feathers made of wood on the top of his head. The bottom part features a beautiful and vibrant courting scene with brilliant colors and gold glitter. It is also adorned with black flowers and white leaves, gold and black scroll designs, and the base color is red like the top. The chicken fits very-securely in the bottom, but a bit of twisting will remove it. It has a circular base in black with white accents. The original tag and Russian sticker are on the bottom. This is simply a stunning depiction of typical Russian art, likened to the nesting dolls style, it is meticulously and incredibly hand-painted, the chicken is precious, and the courting scene is so pretty. This would make a great conversation piece. With quality Russian craftsmanship, this vintage canister is in excellent condition. The paint is very intact, and the wood is not at all damaged. This measures 12.5" height by 4.75" L at its widest part. Stunning piece of Russian art!
