Description: This antique and rare silver soldered tray and bowl set from International Silver Co is a unique find for collectors and enthusiasts alike, especially with the addition of the Rogers Hotel insignias on each piece. The Rogers Hotel in downtown Minneapolis was the talk of the town during the Gay Nineties. It was built in the late 1880s and was known for its offering of elegant cafes. It remained the Rogers Hotel until it was sold in 1930. There is no date on either piece, but they would have been made between 1889 and 1930. Silver Soldered was often seen on electroplated wares sold for commercial use in Hotel Ware. Most silver soldered pieces have a thicker coating of silverplate. The tray weighs about 3 pounds. The bowl weighs about 1/2 pound. The tray measures 14 5/16 inches (not including the 2 round pieces with 'THE ROGERS' emblems on both ends) x 10 15/16 inches.If you include the two 'THE ROGERS' emblems on both ends, the tray measures 16 1/2 inches x 10 15/16 inches. The bowl measures 4" across, but measures 5 10/16 inches across when including 'THE ROGERS' emblem.
