Description: The limestone mantel is faux painted with a black, gray-green, and white marble finish and gold accents. Fluted carvings on the vertical supports have well done minimal floral designs within the bottom of the flutings, with fluted carvings across the apron as well. The mantel is marked Made in France. It was imported to furnish the NYC Waldorf Astoria which opened on October 1, 1931. This mantel is original to suite 30R. Pictured still installed at the Waldorf Astoria. The mantel pieces are in very good condition, however, the back edge of the shelf (under a mirror) and the back edges of the side panels (under trim moldings) are not faux painted. Overall 57.5 in.
