Watcombe Torquay Pottery Pitcher Creamer Motto Ware Vintage England Handpainted

Description: This little pitcher was made by Watcombe Pottery of Torquay in Devon, England. The company started making this Motto Ware line in 1901 and continued production until 1962. From the wording and spelling of the motto on this piece, I believe this is one of their later productions, probably 1950s or early 1960s. It is marked and has pattern code 1208 incised in the bottom. Watcombe used the local Devon clay to make their earthenware. Each piece is hand painted. This pattern is part of their cottage line. This small pitcher is the perfect size to set by your coffee maker so your family can pour themselves a dollop of creamer in their coffee. You can keep most of the creamer in the frig and just fill this pitcher with what will be needed that morning. It will also make a unique vintage addition to your decor - just add a stem or 2 of small greenery. No chips, but it does have all over crazing consistent with age. During close inspection, I also found a hairline crack on the motto side going down from the rim. I photgraphed it from both the outside and the inside of the pitcher. In addition, at the bottom of the inside of the pitcher, at the edge seam, there may be a crack, but I can't tell for sure. It does not show on the outside. There is a photo of this area.
