Description: Buddy Holly and Waylon Jennings Photo Booth Photograph in New York, January 1959. This fantastic photo has been colorized and printed as a full-sized giclee, about 16" x 19". I think it may be one of the most engaging images I have ever sold. Holly is around 22 or 23; Jennings around a year older. I have one of these on my office wall and whenever I take a second to actually look at it, it always makes me smile. There is a companion shot of this without the gesture. Both are smoking cigarettes and smiling and while it is not quite as sharp, it is equally engaging. You can find it in my store. My store also has a listing with a discount if you buy both. The shots were taken in a coin photo booth, likely taken in Grand Central Station in New York, in late 1958 or early 1959 during some Waylon Jennings recording sessions Holly was producing. Shortly after, Jennings took a train to Chicago to meet up with the band for the ill-fated "Winter Dance Party Tour." Because the buses kept breaking down in the brutal midwestern winter, Holly decided to charter a plane from Fargo, ND to Minnesota for himself, Jennings and another band member, Tommy Alsupp. JP Richardson, aka "The Big Bopper," had the flu and asked Jennings if he could have his seat.
