Description: This well-preserved trilobite- Crotalocephalus (Crotalocelaphina) gibbus, from Morocco has bee prepped out such that the head and pygidial spines are free of matrix. Crotalocephalus lived during the Early Devonian (395-345 mya) on a prehistoric ocean floor, which is now part of the Atlas mountains of Morocco. Crotalocephalus has small holochroal eyes and a prominent glabella. The hypostome is still intact in this specimen. The fossil measures 2.77 inches long and 1.22 inches wide. Matrix and fossil measure 3.65 inches long, 3.2 inches wide and 2.33 inches high. There is a repair running through the cepaholn, meeting up with one across the top of the thorax. In the trilobite -collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks- and the specimens often get broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable. I believe in full disclosure. When mailing out this item, the fossil will be placed in a plastic container, which is securely fastened down with a screw. The container will be wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a crushproof box.All of my fossils are guaranteed authentic and have been legally obtained. All of my fossils are guaranteed authentic and have been legally obtained.
