The model is a craftsman typer kit featuring resin structural parts and some brass and plastic detail parts. The model represents the first class of a large batch of 36' stock cars built from 1912-1927 for the Southern Pacific and it's subsidiiaries. Trucks and couplers are not included. Decals are provided. A steel car weight is included. SP had 945 S-40-4s built in 1912-1914. Full assembly instructions and prototype history is included with the model. Photos of finished models with lettering variations are also included with the prototype data sheet. This is a high quality craftsman kit made by the late Al Westerfield. It makes a fine model.
