Description: A pickaroon (or picaroon) is a wood-handled metal-topped log handling tool that originates from the Alpine Region where it is called "Sappie, Zapin, Sapine". It is distinguished from a by having a shorter handleand an opposite curve to its hook (toward the handle rather than away); by having a fixed hook facing its handle rather than a pivoting one facing away. Very nice piece of history. I don't know if this one was handmade or repaired. Definitely has been welded. Unsure of age! Does have normal wear and tear on the handle but is very stout and strong. The iron measures 8 5/8" long x 2 1/2" at widest point x 3/4" thick. The handle is 34" long. Weighs 3.3 lbs I have multiple picks and maddocks listed, if this one isn't quite what you are looking for, check out "Sellers Other Items". Discounts for multiple purchases of picks, adze, or maddocks. ANY REASONABLE OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED! Please examine ALL pictures carefully since I do NOT accept returns. Most of my items are found at many of the farms going out of business or retiring from farming. I will describe them to the best of my knowledge. If have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me. If, after you receive item, it does not meet your expectations, please contact me. Also worth mentioning, since many of my items are big and bulky, I do recycle/reuse/resize cardboard.
