William 'Buffalo Bill' Cody Showman Autograph Framed Display JSA Authenticated

Description: William Frederick ''Buffalo Bill' Cody [1846 1917] was a American scout, bison hunter and showman who was born in the Le Claire Iowa Territory later known as the U.S state of Iowa. Cody began working at the age of 14 as a rider for the Pony Express and served with the Union Army during the American Civil War. Cody received the nickname ''Buffalo Bill'' after the American Civil War when he had a contract to supply Kansas Pacific Railroad workers with buffalo meat and it is purported he killed over 4,000 buffalo between 1867 and 1868. After the war he served as a civilian scout for the U.S Army during the Indian Wars and was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1872. Cody is considered one of the most colorful figures of the American Old West and Bill's legend began to spread when he was only twenty-three when he began performing in shows that displayed cowboy themes and episodes from the frontier and Indian Wars. In 1883 he founded the Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and began touring the United States and in 1887 he toured in Great Britain and Europe. Listed for auction is a stunning display which contains the authenticated autograph of William Frederick ''Buffalo Bill'' Cody. The autograph is signed on a card, ''W.F. Cody'' and he added ''Buffalo Bill'' in black fountain pen. The card measures 3.50 x 2.50 inches, with 3.50 x 1.50 inches displayed, other then trivial even toning the autograph is in fine condition and is bold and displays wonderfully. The autograph has been authenticated by JSA, James Spence Authentication and will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity. The display has been assembled around a wonderful formal b/w portrait 7.00 x 9.00 of Buffalo Bill. Mounted below is a professionally engraved plaque which reads as follows, ''William Frederick ''Buffalo Bill'' Cody. February 26, 1846 - January 10, 1917. One of the most colorful figures of the American Old West, his legend began to spread when he was only twenty-three. Shortly thereafter he started performing in shows that displayed cowboy themes and episodes from the frontier and Indian Wars. He founded Buffalo Bill's Wild West in 1883, taking his large company on tours in the United States and beginning in 1887, in Great Britain and Europe. The display itself is stunning and has been professionally assembled in acid free materials as follows, each item has been matted in a beige linen outer matte and accented with a brown inner matte. The display has been completed in a western themed quality ornate distressed brown wood frame to the dimensions of 21.00 x 14.00 inches. The autograph is a wonderful example, authenticated, bold, beautifully framed and ready to be displayed in your collection. Absolutely no disappointments.
