He was born in 1903 in Dresden where he studied art. Later he continued his art studies in Munich. In 1928 Seiler left Germany and traveled to various European countries. He settled in Karuizawa, Japan after the during world war II. He also worked as an art instructor for an American army college in Tokyo. According to research done by Darrel C. Karl, a private collector, Willy Seiler may have returned to Europe in the 1960s and mav have died in 1997 in Switzerland. But this information is not (yet) for granted.
