This is not an original Akai RC-70, but, a compatible unit that performs the same functions. This unit works just like the original Akai RC-70 wired remote. It plugs into the back of the tape decks and allows the transport functions (play, stop, record, fast forward, rewind, pause* and reverse play* *-pause and reverse play only works on decks with these functions) to be controlled wirelessly from across the room. Comes with a DirecTV universal remote, but, you can use just about any universal remote on the market. Just set it for one of the Sony VCR button codes.
