Description: Wm Abraham Restum, "MERCY!" rare and limited lithography signed 182/300, framed, 20'' x 16", AbstractARTIST: Wm Abraham Restum (b. 1929 - d. 2006) Title/Date: Mercy! (c. late 1960s, early 1970s)Size: Paper size is 20 x 16 inches. Subject, Features: Abstract. Hand signed by the artist. Limited edition no. 182/300. Condition: Aged, vintage, very good. Some edge wear and slight scuffs from being moved around. We've had it for about 30+ years. We bought a group of works in the late 1980s, all in the lot were from the 1950s and 1960s. Although this is not dated, we believe that time window is correct. It's clearly of high quality, vintage and stored flat. About the Artist:Also known as musician Willie Restum had a long musical career as an internationally known baritone saxophonist and lounge entertainer from Allentown Pennsylvania. He moved to Los Angeles in 1966 and became a regular in Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe sharing the stage with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Tony Bennett and Paul Anka. In 1998 he made a cameo appearance walking on water in the Rolling Stone music video, "Saint of Me" and in 2005 he appeared in the BBC documentary about Frank Sinatra and his connections to the Mafia. He's buried in Whitehall, Pennsylvania. -- Source: The Morning Call, Find a Grave, and others. This and That About Win. A. RestumWm Abraham Restum, now appearing at Jilly’s, Palm Springs, is a multitalented comic, vocalist, musician, artist and veteran showman in the approach to a peaceful, plain unaffected but spontaneously exciting level of on stage presentation. His visual countenance, highlighted by an obviously different “hook nose’’ adds to his complete and unique image which is dressed up with a casual boatneck shirt with pocket in front made exclusively by Momma Restum. Restum is presented here in a totally different artistic communicative approach than his music—he is the artist, weaver of color, form and movement which he titles as “The sound of color.” His longtime nostalgic success inMiami Beach, Fla., has been interspersed by visitations to the Cal-Neva Lodge at Lake Tahoe; Playboy Club, Los Angeles and San Francisco; AI Hirt's Night Club, New Orleans; and entertainment spots in London. Paris, Rome, Athens and Beirut. In his Los Angeles art gallery. Restum is found as an abstract impressionist of great manly flow and humanistic colorful subtleties. His works are a fantasy of aesthetic mistiness inspired by his music. On the bandstand, upon listening one notices an immediately affecting ingeniousness and a high, subtle sophistication about his musical glow. Tuneful songs reflect these qualities and they are open to many kinds of interpretations.
