Description: A-054If you are looking for a great user Moving Fillister rabbet (rebate) plane, then please consider this one. This beechwood example from the UK measures the typical 9-1/2" in length with a skewed cutter. It is "boxed" (with boxwood) along the entire leading outer edge to resist wear in the slanted English style. Charles Nurse began making wooden planes in the middle 1800's. The company continued on as Charles Nurse & Co. from 1887 (assumed after his death) until 1937 when it was sold to A. B. Salmen's Successors Ltd. (from "British Planemakers from 1700" by W. L. Goodman). The toe on this example is clearly marked by the maker and shows the later 1930's + Invicta horse logo. All adjustable parts work as intended, including an adjustable spur and wedge. The plane shows careful use and is in excellent condition overall. You won't be dissapointed. Moving Fillister planes are encountering renewed interest among woodworkers of today. Thanks for looking.
