Description: W.S. George White Granite Tiny Todkins Juvenile Bowl #561 For consideration is this antique child’s bowl made by W.S. George Pottery Company, East Palestine, Ohio, USA. This bowl features colorful images of the Tiny Todkins, a decal line used by more than one china company, including Homer Laughlin, Taylor, Smith & Taylor and Royal. There is a large center image of 4 children in a line preventing attack of a hairy dog creature and has a snippet of poem underneath which reads “The bravest of the Todkins band, fierce wild beasts would rid the land”. There are 4 smaller images surrounding the center image, a boy, a girl, a house, and the hairy dog creature again. The bowl is heavy, somewhat wedge-shaped and larger at the base. It measures 1½ inches tall, the mouth measures 6¾ inches in diameter and the base measures 7½ inches in diameter. The back of the dish is marked in black ink “White Granite W.S. George #561”. Condition is fair as there is a large chip on the outside base rim (see photos) and although the colors are still vibrant and there are no cracks, repairs or discoloration noted, there are scratches from utensils and crazing can be seen under a magnifying glass. Buyer will pay shipping on a 3 pound box. Thank you for looking! NOTE: The W. S. George Pottery Company was a United States pottery manufacturer with facilities in Ohio and Pennsylvania between 1904 and 1960. NOTE: Sweet "Tiny Todkins" character decals were used by many different pottery companies in the early 1900’s.
