The sailor is assigned to the Minesweeper USS Signet AM-302. After training and brand new ship maneuvers they got to the Pacific theater. Most of 1944 was spent on escorting convoys. The ship is engaged in active combat during 1945 It seems they were involved in the Iwo Jima and Okinawa campaigns.
