Description: WW II Flight Jacket Named. True vintage genuine WW II flight jacket. As far as I can tell, this is an ANJ-3A jacket. The spec tag is missing. The leather is in excellent condition. It appears that the lining, knits and mouton of the collar were replaced at some point as well as the zipper. All are in excellent condition with basically no wear. Thankfully, the original squadron patch, captain’s wings and name tag are intact. All buttons present. Original painted “US” stencil on the rear of collar. This is a wearable piece of history in great shape. The fire breathing dragon/seahorse squadron patch belongs to Composite Squadron VC-10 which was attached to the USS Gambier Bay which was sunk during battle. I have tried to research the pilot but have had no luck (the US government archives for enlistment records is thorough for the Army but for the Navy there is not much). I have attached some history of the squadron from a website selling a VC-10 patch. According to the site, the patch itself is very rare (they are asking $895 for just the patch ). As collectors know, squadron patches are much more common on Army A2 jackets than the Navy jackets. No size tag present. Please go by measures to ensure fit. No returns due to sizing. Armpit to pit 19.5”; shoulder seam to seam 18”; shoulder seam to cuff 22”; Top of collar front to hem 27.” No returns especially due to sizing. Extra shipping for outside US. Payment via PayPal due on invoice.
