Description: Please note I am NOT an expert on this fantastic item at all, so all this information is just my opinion, you'll have to be the judge of this fantastic Collector's item for yourself . This item was found on the east coast of the United States , the Maryland area to be exact, and this is exactly the way I found it, I did not try to clean it up, or fix it in any way whatsoever, I just took pictures . I believe This is an original, and authentic 1942 World War II vintage foot locker . this trunk/ Foot Locker is MARKED with a paper tag that says GEN M W CLARK PERSONAL , and is also written in the front with white chalk , that says Gen Clark. Now when you look up General Clark, he served in WORLD WAR I , WORLD WAR II , and the KOREAN WAR , and he was the youngest four-star general in the US Army during World War II , and definitely a great American hero , This great hero died in 1984 .... when you open the trunk up you can see it says BETTINGER TRUNK MFG. Co. 1942 ,which is stamped in black color , and very cool looking. On the other side , the opposite side , where it has the paper tag , of GEN M W CLARK PERSONAL, it has a tag very hard to see but it looks like it says 3/10/67 (1967 see last picture) , which I'm assuming this Locker has been sent all over the world , and that's just another paper tag ,that in my opinion authenticates this super cool item. I think this World War II Locker could be worth anywhere from $400 up to $700 , maybe even more, if you restore it to its original look , but that's just my opinion . This fantastic Foot Locker is approximately 32 inches Long , 16 inches wide and approximately 13 inches high . I think this US ARMY Foot Locker is a fantastic find , and I hope it goes to a great collector who will enjoy this item as I did . I'm going to start the bidding off low , cuz I want this to go to a great collector. this Locker is all wood and has metal hinges and metal locks . the front looks like it's got knife marks, like someone was practicing throwing knives at the locker , which I think is pretty wild . the front middle lock is broken , and it needs to be fixed , but the two hinges on the right and left do close the Foot Locker, and are there and still work . the top of the Foot Locker is MARKED US on there which is awesome. This is a USED Foot Locker from 1942, so it does have stains, watermarks, dirt, dust, writing, cracks, holes, knife marks , scratches , dings, dents, and missing parts, but that's all to be expected for as old as this item is , and it gives great character to this trunk . This would be a fantastic item to restore , or you can just leave it alone, and add it to a really cool collection, either way what a fantastic find this is . I hope it goes to a great collector who will enjoy this item as I did. Please make sure and take a look at ALL the pictures, and if you have any questions at all, or need more pictures, feel free to contact me. Thank you so much for looking and good luck.
