Description: An original hard to find British Mk1 Steel helmet with its liner, top pad and chin strap intact and in good condition. Be aware of some American P17 helmets being advertised as British / Australian helmets. Your genuine British / Australian helmet will have all of the following characteristics as per this example: * Stamped F/S 68 indicating the shell was manufactured by Thomas Firth & Sons Ltd of Sheffield between 1916 and 1918. * Correct split pin rivet on the chin strap support bail, see pic 7. * Red War Office stamp under the oil cloth liner. * Top pad with colour ranging from tan to light brown. This example is in good condition. Top pad and liner are in place although the liner is showing some signs of age deterioration. The chin strap appears to be a replacement. A really nice and neat WW1 British / Australian Mk1 helmet. So hard to find in this condition.
