Description: You are bidding on a SUPERB and VERY RARE set of EARLY WW2 German Kriegsmarine 7x50 Nordsee Fleet Binoculars! Used by Navy Flak Crews and Coastal Artillery, these were brought back by US veteran at the end of the war. The German Army and Navy used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6x30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens), 7x50, 8x30, 10x50 and others, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service. Though this type was the standard, specialized personnel required stinger optics, and were issues to personnel on a limited basis. Made of aluminum, brass, and steel by Carl Zeiss Jena, these early 7 x 50 power binoculars are in EXCELLENT used condition! The lens bodies retain about 85% of their original, finish, and the aluminum end piece fittings are 100% intact! The focus adjustments still function perfectly on both eye pieces. Optics are VERY CLEAR and in PERFECT alignment! These are identical to the pair seen in period photos around the neck of Korvettenkapitan Reinhard Hardegen, aboard U-123 (see last photo). The right side is body marked: NNr. 15377("N" = North Sea Fleet). The left side is marked with a prominent Kriegsmarine Adler, and a "T", indicating that the optics are coated (though I do not see any coatings, which is normal, as they were not meant to last 80 years). Slight marks, dents, and paint loss throughout. The serviceman who brought them home scratched his initials and serial number into the side. Comes complete with a neck strap, but it is most likely a post-war replacement. A VERY NICE example, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
