Description: This was my fathers certificate for crossing the equator for the first time, a long time naval tradition (see info below). It is dated by my father's hand on Jan 28 1944. He was on the USAR-Yarmouth. The location on the certificate is stated as COMBAT ZONE-SOUTH WEST-PACIFIC. It is a large certificate, 20" x 15" on heavy paper, similar to heavy card stock. It has always been folded in our home which was smoke free. No tears or stains. Some minor stains on back, but they do not transfer to the front. Color is still good. I have tried to include a number of photos for you to view.
