The OE/WG is still in business today and known as Steyr. The M1895 was the first bayonet to have an inverted blade with the cutting edge facing up. Overall, this bayonet is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition, considering its age and history. The press catch is functional with average spring tension. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. There are light impact marks, oxidation and scrapes. The rivets securely fasten the wood grip panels. They have light oxidation. Both panels have scattered compressions, draglines and small chips. The wood has darkened with age. The spine, fullers and sides have light scuffs and handling marks, but no notable wear. There are no nicks or dings on the blade edge and it appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. The blade finish is in the white. The left ricasso is marked with the Austrian Hapsburg Imperial Eagle. The right ricasso is marked "OE/WG". The left side guard is marked with the serial number "807". The metal scabbard is in Fair - Good condition, considering its age and history. The frog stud is securely attached to the body. The body has impact marks, oxidation and scrapes. The remaining finish is in the white and not much of it is visible. This bayonet and scabbard will be a great addition to your WWI era Mannlicher rifle, or a bayonet collection in general.
