The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the First World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Michael Kerscher Michael was a 'National Army' member of the 5th Company, 11th Bavarian Infantry Regiment and passed from a 'head shot' on July 19, 1916 at the age of 28.
