The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Anton Fischer Anton was a Sergeant in the Infantry and was a Veteran of the campaigns in France and Yugoslavia. He passed from wounds received in the East at the age of 24 1/2. He is buried in a military cemetery with fallen comrades from the Great War 1914-18 in Dünaburg, Latvia. There are approximately 3,000 +/- fallen WWII soldiers interred at Dünaburg. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
