Description: Thank you for viewing our listings. This listings is for a genuine and original WWII German Army Sterbebild. Sterbebild are also known as Funeral Cards or Death Notices. The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Ernst Neumayer -Please note, this is a larger format card and is housed in a 5x7 holder. - The card itself is approximately 3 5/8 by 5 3/8- Ernst was a Party member and served in the Elite Units and more specifically the Security Division of S.D. Office as denoted by the text and also the blank right collar tab on his issue tunic. Ernst fell on November 29, 1943 at the age of 33 near Kielce, Poland.
