The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Johann Wurm & Peter Stangl Johann was a Private in the Army and was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class. He fell during 'forest fighting' on November 27, 1941 at the age of 20. Peter was a Sergeant in the Infantry and passed on Christmas Day - December 25, 1941 at the age of 26.
