The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Josef Kerschbaumer Josef was a Private in a highly skilled Mountain Troop regiment. He passed from severe wounds received at the Kuban Bridgehead on September 23, 1943 at the age of 21. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
