The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Josef Tischner Josef was a Sergeant in the Infantry and and wearing his parade dress uniform complete with marksmanship lanyard. He fell in the East on March 1, 1942 at the age of 27. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
