The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. These particular card was printed in remembrance of: Alois Baumgartner Alois served as a Corporal in a motorized infantry regiment. He passed in a POW Camp in Taranto, Italy on July 15, 1945 at the age of 33. Please be sure to check back often as we will be listing more coins and currency.
