The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Anton Bichler Anton was a Sergeant in the elite Mountain Troops and was awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Classes, the Infantry Assault Badge, the Eastern Front medal, and a Black Wound Badge. He fell in Finland on October 21, 1944 at the age of 27. Please be sure to check back often as we will be listing more coins and currency.
