The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Johann Schneiderbauer Johann was a Rottenfuhrer / CoporalJohann Schneiderbauer. Johann is seen wearing an early pattern, closed neck tunic that exhibits the earlier pattern vertical T. K. skull and rank tab. He was a veteran of the campaigns in Poland, Belgium, and France. He fell on May 10, 1942 following 10 months of fighting in Soviet Russia at the age of 24. Please check back often as we will be listing more coins and currency.
