The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Franz Höhensinn Franz was a Sergeant in the Infantry and was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class and a War Merit Medal. He fell during the assault at Bres-Litovsk on June 22, 1941 at the age of 35. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
