The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Hermann Absmeier Hermann was a Private in the 1st Company of the 86th Panzer Engineer Battalion. He was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class and a Wound Badge. He fell in the East on November 26, 1943 at the age of 29. Please be sure to check back often as we will be listing more coins and currency.
