The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Josef Pühringer Josef was a SMG Gunner in the Army. He passed from shrapnel wounds on November 2, 1944 at the age of 20 in Italy.
