The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Michael Knabenbauer Michael was a Corporal and Driver in the Air Force. He fell in the high north (Norway) on February 14, 1944 at the age of 37, According to the War Graves Registration, he is buried in the Bont Rognan Cemetery in Block A, Grave 589.
