Wrench USNR in command During WWII USS LSM-224 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and participated the following campaigns: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Consolidation and capture of the southern Philippines Palawan Islands landings, 28 February to 1 March 1945 Visayan Island landing, 18 March 1945 ________________________________________ Borneo operation Tarakan Island operation, 27 April to 5 May 1945 Balikpapan operation, 26 June to 6 July 1945 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Following World War II USS LSM-224 was assigned to Occupation of Japan and China service in the Far East for the following periods: Navy Occupation of Japan Service Medal -11 November to 2 December 1945 China Service Medal 3 to 21 December 1945 Decommissioned, 24 May 1946, at Mare Island Navy Yard, Vallejo, CA.
