The gold-washed Ruptured Duck (possibly gold filled), metal insignia depicts an eagle with wings spread perched within a circle. The Ruptured Duck offered represents the regulation issue Insignia with a button stud on the reverse. The one pictured is in good condition and is 78 years old. Note: I have a number of these that are very similar in condition, appearance and almost identical in design. They may be gold filled and they are all vintage WWII Issue. It indicated the serviceman or woman was honorably discharged so he or she would not get stopped for orders, papers, etc.. The Ruptured Duck also enabled the GI to wear his or her uniform for a few months before the veteran could acquire suitable civilian clothing. The veteran could also wear this Ruptured Duck on a suit jacket lapel.
