Description: HUGE 1970s Seguso Vetri d’Arte Scavo Table Lamp Designer or Artist: Vittorio Rigattieri Year Of Design: c.1970s Company or Studio: Seguso Vetri d’Arte Country: Italy Height: 350 mm / 13.7" Width or Diameter: 300 mm / 11.8" Notes: A very wide and very substantial table lamp of thick-walled mouthblown glass, in a roughly mushroom shape, decorated ‘a scavo’ – a technique of applying salts and ash to the glass during firing to replicate the iridescence and calcium deposits found on ancient excavated glass. It is capped with a wide turned and polished hardwood disc. It was made in the late 1970s by Murano glassworks, Seguso Vetri d’Arte, and was probably designed by Vittorio Rigattieri, SvdA’s head designer at this time. The lamp has been rewired with a brand new British-made B22 bayonet cap switched lamp-holder, and a good length of premium Italian 3-core cable with a decorative vintage-style mottled grey woven cotton braid. Bears original label. Condition Report: A few isolated scratches, some of which go under the cap, and so apparently present since production. Otherwise, excellent and ready to place.
