Description: These are very beautiful, heavy, bottles. These are a little older than the bottles currently used--modern ones have a green wrap on the neck and a synthetic cork, THESE have a metal twist-off cap and the neck is adorned with a metal sleeve with perforations separating it from the cap. The metal cap and neck sleeve are black and gold. The glass has a nicely smooth, almost polished-looking finish. Sold empty. Would make a great lamp, or in some place where it was backlit or lit from below as a decorative piece. Did I mention they're heavy? ^^; --the foot of the bottle is a really thick hunk of glass, almost like a champagne bottle. Cut loose from the bottle and polished it might even make a decent paperweight. The walls of the bottle are quite heavy, too. Unfortunately, the bottle doesn't seem to fit into any of the USPS flat-rate boxes (crafty devils). Even WITH the crazy shipping, buying it empty comes to a couple of dollars less than just buying it full and emptying it yourself...although the latter might be funner. I've heard some seasoned rum drinkers describe Zaya as "syrupy sweet," but to my unsophisticated palate, It's quite wonderful (the rum itself). It has a candy-sweet, vanilla-y aroma...the physical sensation of drinking it is pretty much like any rum. My senses are kind of blown out by the rum's bouquet, so it's kind of difficult to distinguish the actual tongue tasting that's going on when it's being consumed. Definitely worth trying if you're into rum. Definitely too distinctive to try to decant any other rum into the bottle and try to pass it off as Zaya to anyone who's ever tried Zaya.
