This FITS ALL Ric 4003 basses made before 2015 with a one piece guard - Older two piece guard Ric 4003 requires a 4001 style rest (Contact us thru messaging about those. We have them, but need to confirm fit with you as the early 4001's and 4003's changed profiles year to year so we'd want to see which you have to give you the right fit.) This WILL FIT some early-2014 4003W, but check the pickguard pictures above to verify the guard used. (The 2014 4003W pickguard changed mid-year, so it can go either way.) MAY NOT FIT THE 2015, 2016 or later editions of the 4003S or 4003Wor 2016 editions of the 4003. This is the slightly fatter version of the classic Zero-Mod® thumb Rest for Rickenbacker model 4003. The classic is 1/4 inch thick, this "Fat Boy" is 3/8 thick. We made this in response to requests from Ric owners who loved the original but felt a somewhat thicker one would be the thing!We freely admit these aren't for everybody -- most players think the 1/4 inch is just right. With ZERO modifications required to your bass! If you are a fingerstyle player with a Rickenbacker 4001 or 4003, you know there is no really good place to "hang your thumb" - You see many Rics with a wear spot at the corner of the pickguard, where players try to "dig in", and many Rics with the chrome cover removed from the bridge pickup to allow finger style access. I designed this for my own 4003 as I wanted to make it more comfortable to play and keep the "cover on" as the classic look that is a big part of this bass for many Ric fans. This thumb rest is made out of 3/8 inch thick high quality dead clear polycarbonate, and precision CNC made in a machine shop here in the USA to match the shape of your guard perfectly. The position and design mean NO NEW HOLES in your bass! Includes two pick guard screws which are slightly longer than the stock Ric screws, so you do not even change the screw holes by adding this on.
